Ric Lowe: Successful instructional diagrams |
Successful instructional diagrams show two qualities:
Pictorial form of presentation does not have magical instructional effectiveness
just because they are pictures.
Good design is fundamental to the success of a diagram.
The instructional designer needs to strike the difficult balance between simplifying the presentation and providing support.
To be effective a diagram must:
Support provided for learners is a part of the process of helping learners to handle diagrams in an effective manner and to develop the skills and knowledge to do so An important goal in providing support is to give the learners opportunities for high quality, mentally demanding interactions with the diagram and its content. - Abstract - Literature - Lowe - 1 Learning - 2 Visual - 3 Development - 4 Designing - 5 Producing - 6 Context - 7 Integration - 8 Improving - 9 Helping - Links |
