Biography

Don Smith is the Manager of Curriculum Development for the training group at ISOGEN International. His role as manager includes setting the direction for Training, overseeing and participating in curriculum development, and delivering training to ISOGEN customers. Don sees the challenge of corporate training in XML as combining the big picture of what XML promises with a practical understanding of the uses it provides today. Don's teaching experience is extensive and includes stints at the high school, college, and graduate levels. Following the completion of his Ph.D. in 1997 (at Southern Methodist University), Don was drawn to the field of mark-up languages. Don's extensive experience in teaching adult learners, combined with his ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and intelligible manner, have served him well in this arena. Don has enjoyed tremendous success in providing training to customers involved involved in the legal, database, programming and professional services industries. In addition to his managerial duties, Don currently teaches the full range of courses offered by ISOGEN, including XML QuickStart for Programmers, Mastering XSL, and Enterprise XML Strategies, to name a few.
