My journey in the Chinese teaching field
I obtained a bachelor degree majoring in Italian and English. Afterwards I have been working for Italian government for 7 years. Working in a multicultual environnement, I had chances to organise Chinese language and cultural courses for my foreign colleagues, which stimulated me in the teaching field. In the year of 2018, desiring to become more professional, I have prepared for the examination and interview of the Certificate for Chinese Teachers to Speakers of Other Languages and succeeded in obtaining the official qualification to be a Chinese teacher. Now I'm a regular teacher in Chinese school of Geneva and also online. As a teacher I believe that teaching benefits students as well as teachers (in Chinese 教学相长). I not only teach chinese but also learn from my students!
My online teaching style
The lessons' content will be chosen according to students' needs. I like to know about students' accademical, professional, cultural background in order to personalize a study plan before getting started. I also like to make clear the learning targets with them at the beginning of every lesson and try to make the teaching process fun and effective.
My online courses introduction
- Theme courses
This program is for those who already have a basic level of Chinese (for exemple at least finished the pronunciation and character introduction courses. Ideally with the HSK1 level). Every two or three lessons, we will focus on a theme and work out together the vocabulary, grammar points needed for describing, discussing or presenting the theme content. The advantages of the theme course are multiple. It's fun, multidisciplinary, helps students to build the mind map of the knowledge and allows them to apply what they learn in real life by completing practical tasks. If students' learning goal is not to take the HSK exams, just to improve and put in pratice Chinese, I highly suggest them this program! (All the course content is designed by me by taking into consideration of students' interest, weak points etc. There will be no books to follow) - Pinyin: I'm not that difficult, I'm only a little emotional & Chinese characters: You got some time? Actually everyone of us has a story to tell.
Pinyin: This course has 4-6 lessons which depend on students' learning pace. In this course students will firstly have a general idea about the Chinese pronunciation in a clear and simplified way. Then we will dip into the details during which we will have a fund of practice! The Chinese pronunciation is not that difficult as one may immagine, it's actually user friendly!
Chinese characters: This course has 2 lessons from which students will learn the four major ways of how the Chinesecharacters are created . Once they know the basic rules, they make the immagination fly and try to create some characters on their own. New characters are created constantly in China and some of them got even officially admitted. Who knows, maybe the ones we create can be the next hottest character of the year! For some of the characters I have designed on my own some interesting GIF to help students recognize them more easily. - School exam preparation
This course helps students to prepare for their school exams. It contains a step-by-step review of the content that the students have learned in school and if more information about the exam's exercise types are offered, it will also include similar exercises designed by me so that stuednts can have targeted practice before the exam. - HSK
For beginners with the base of the previous lessons about Pinyin and Chinese characters, we can skip the Pinyin part of HSK book and start right away to learn words and grammar of HSK One! We will follow the pace of the book HSK but for each lesson I have my own well-prepared teaching materials in which there are exercises designed by myself according to my observation of students' common errors. About every 4 lessons, we will have a lesson dedicated to oral pratice. HSK is the supporting books of the official test for Chinese Language which has six levels. - Oral Chinese
This course is designed for those who want to pratice and improve the oral Chinese. For each lesson, we will treat one or multiple topics. Conversations are designed with the objective of enabling students to put in practice vocabularies and grammar that they acquired; Topics vary from cuisine, music, movies, widely discussed news etc. - The latest HSK (updated on 24th March of 2021 by Chinese Ministry of Education)
On 24th March of 2021, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China published the new Chinese proficiency grading standards which go into effect from the first July. The latest standards have made some changes in the precedent HSK levels. There are totally 9 levels according to the new standards. For now there are no relative books in the market. The only available resource is a detailed list of characters, vocabulary, grammar of these nine levels. So for those who want improve their Chinese and update to the latest standards, we firstly check to which level of the new standards the students correspond , then we will study the content of a higher level. For each lesson, we are going to study some new grammar points and new words of the latest HSK list. All the texts are written on my own by sticking strictly to your level and what we learn.
