Abstract

Many managers who have business responsibility for content production within their organizations have recognized the benefits that XML offers. An XML-based system substantially reduces costs, improves efficiencies, and enables single-source production of content for a number of uses: Web pages, online help, print, e-mail, wireless, and so on. XML is the key to being able to organize content from a myriad of contributors and keep it flowing smoothly through several delivery channels. One of the most powerful ways to understand how the potential of XML can be realized in real-world situations is to learn from the experience of those who have done it. In this presentation, several recent case studies will be discussed showing how XML is being used for content management in business, government and education. The presentation will be accompanied by demonstrations and examples from the case studies. Finally, a look into the future of XML technology and business applications of it will be presented.
