Abstract

Business challenges such as infoglut and knowledge management can only be solved by moving beyond traditional information management, through the capture of semantics and the use of sharable ontologies. Topic maps do just that. Ontopia offers topic map technology that can be applied to make information easier to find, to improve web and wireless services, to enable the capture and reuse of corporate memory, and to simplify the integration of information and applications. The Ontopia Knowledge Suite (OKS), first released in May 2001, has evolved into the most complete set of tools for building topic map applications. This session will introduce version 1.3, which now features support for queries and constraints, and focus particularly on mining topic maps with the MapMaker(TM) toolkit, on the new Web Editor Framework for building topic map editing applications, and on using the OKS to power Knowledge Asset Portals.
