What are the characteristics of Chinese grammer compared with the grammers of the Indo-European languages and the the grammer of the Japanese which is quite similar to the Chinese? Briefly speaking, the biggest one is that Chinese uses word order and functional words ( e.g. prepositions and adverbs, etc.) to realise grammatical functions. In this sense, there are only two kinds of languages in the world: Chinese ( and its subsidery branches) and other languages.
